General Practitioner and Medical Treatment
It is the expectation that all boarding pupils will be registered with the school’s G.P - The Moat House Surgery,

Your son can be seen by the family G.P. during weekends and holiday periods. It is important that you inform the receptionist/doctor that you wish him to be seen on a TEMPORARY PATIENT basis to ensure that he remains registered with the school’s G.P and his notes are not transferred.
SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE MOAT HOUSE SURGERY INCLUDE:
All boys admitted to St Nicholas School are routinely registered with the School Health Service - East Surrey Health Authority,
East Surrey Hospital,
Three Arch Road,
Redhill,
Surrey.
01737 768511.
SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICE INCLUDE:
The school dentist visits the school on a regular basis to carry out routine inspections. If treatment is found to be necessary, parents will be informed and given the choice of the treatment being carried out by the school dentist or by making their own arrangements at home. It is recommended that all parents ensure that their son is also seen regularly by a dentist at home to maintain his name on a National Health List.
The school nurse visits the school on a regular basis to carry out routine sight tests. If an optician’s appointment is found to be necessary for a more detailed examination, parents will be informed and given the choice of the school arranging this or making their own arrangements at home.
All boys admitted to St Nicholas School are routinely assessed by the speech therapist who attends the school on a regular basis. If any intervention is felt to be necessary she will make arrangements for regular speech therapy sessions.
Psychiatric/Psychological Referral
The school has regular psychiatric input from the Child and Family Consultation Service in Redhill. If staff/parents are concerned about a pupil and would like some intervention and support then a referral can take place.
The school keeps detailed records of all appointments and treatment that pupils receive. It is important that on admission to school parents ensure that they have informed us of all important medical details of their son and significant family medical history. It is also important that parents keep us up to date with any changes in medical information or any concerns that they may have.
