BACKGROUND AND LOCATION
St. Nicholas School is a residential special school for up to 68 boys aged ten to sixteen years. The school also admits up to 10 day pupils. All of the boys have moderate learning difficulties and many experience associated social and emotional problems.
The school is set in spacious and attractive grounds in the village of Merstham, near the towns of Reigate and Redhill, which offer good local recreational and shopping facilities. There are also excellent road and rail links with London and the South Coast. The local train station is only a few minutes walk from the school, offering a travelling time to Central London and Brighton of approximately 25 minutes. In addition, the M25 (Junction 8) is only a few miles away.
The school itself is a large, modern building (previously a Comprehensive School) with excellent facilities, which include a good sized outdoor heated swimming pool, a large Assembly Hall and well equipped Gymnasium. In addition, there is a hard surface playing area and extensive open fields.
